Teak interior furniture

Preservation
- • Dust with a soft or slightly damp cloth.
- • Never use abrasive products, chlorine-based products, degreasers, or linseed oil as these can clog and darken the wood.
- • Avoid direct exposure to sunlight and heat.
- • Sudden temperature changes and low humidity can cause warping and cracks.
- • Never place wet or hot containers on unprotected furniture, as this may leave marks that are difficult to remove.
Protection & Care
Protection is key to maintaining untreated teak furniture. We strongly recommend protecting high-exposure furniture such as bathroom surfaces. When used indoors and left unprotected, teak will naturally patinate over time and turn a golden-brown color.
Oil
Oil is a non-film-forming, transparent protective product that penetrates deeply into the wood fibers. It has the essential property of waterproofing wood and protecting it from everyday staining. It is suitable for all types of wood.
Appearance
The oil finish provide a natural, matte appearance that doesn't form a film. The resulting color may vary according to the wood species and its natural hue. Since the product enhances the original color of the wood, it's recommended to test it in a non-visible area before full application.
Disadvantages
It is very difficult to sand an oiled piece of furniture back to bare wood. The choice of this finish is, therefore, "definitive".
Regular maintenance
Dust and clean with a suitable soap, but without water. In case of scratches or impact damage, lightly sand the area with medium-grit sandpaper, then apply the oil with a brush in two or three thin layers.
Long-term maintenance
Over time, the wood may lighten or dry out. Simply clean it without sanding the damaged areas and re-coat with oil.
Varnishes
Varnish forms a thin, transparent film over the wood surface. It is resistant to impact, abrasion, scratches, and stains, making it suitable for all types of wood.
Appearance
Varnish provides a natural finish with a matt, film-forming appearance. The final color can vary according to the wood species and its natural hue. Since the product enhances the original color of the wood, it's recommended to test it in a non-visible area before full application.
Disadvantages
This type of finish is not suitable for localized repairs. If the furniture is damaged, even on a small surface, the entire piece will need to be refinished back to the bare wood.
Regular maintenance
Maintaining varnished furniture is very simple: dust regularly and clean the furniture with a damp cloth. In case of scratches or impact damage, you'll need to sand and reapply varnish to the entire area. Be aware that localized repairs may be noticeable.
Long-term maintenance
Varnish is very durable but over time, some areas may become worn. In such cases, it is preferable to sand and re-varnish the entire piece to ensure a consistent finish.
